Perseverance gave Omgpop, the creators of the hit game “Draw Something,” what seems to be an overnight success. From almost closing down a month ago —- to being sold for $180 Million.

The New York Times described the good fortune of Charles Forman, the guy whose smiling in the picture. Charles Forman said in the interview, “I had $1,700 in my bank account yesterday, and now I have a whole lot more.”

After six years and 35 attempts at making hit-games, Omgpop, a New York based game maker, was set to run out of cash by this May. That is until last February, when they introduced Draw something, a Smartphone game that became a breakout hit. This caught the attention of Zynga, the maker of FarmVille and the current social gaming king. They bought the company from Charles for $180 Million.

Draw Something, a twist on Pictionary, was downloaded 35 million times since its release on February. Players have generated more than a billion drawings since, according to Zynga.

Charles Forman, 32, was not even directly involved in creating Draw Something. He left the company a year ago but kept his stake in it. He was trying to set up another start up company when he found a gold mine in Draw Something.

Do you have the perseverance to wait for six years to achieve success? Do you have the staying power even after 35 failures? Are you willing to pay the price? This is yet another story of people who failed forward. Oh, by the way, there’s no such thing as an overnight success.
