Lets retire the word Entrepreneur

I got this from the book Rework by Jason Fried and and David Heinemeier. I love how they define entrepreneurship: “Let’s retire the word entrepreneur. It’s outdated and loaded with baggage. It smells like a members only club. Let’s call them starters instead. Anyone who creates a new business is a starter. You don’t need an MBA, you just need an idea, a touch of confidence, and a push to get started.”

I fully agree. Although I also believe that entrepreneurship is not for everyone; if it was, then we won’t have any employees left to run businesses. Being an employee is also not bad, in fact you can be wealthy as an employee. But — let me make it a big BUT — everyone should try if entrepreneurship is for them or not. You might fail BUT failing is a prerequisite to success. You might receive criticism BUT it can mean that your idea is ahead of your time. You might lose money BUT ACHIEVING YOUR DREAMS might be just around the corner.

Oh, let’s change the word entrepreneur (it sounds intimidating) into a starter. How can I be an entrepreneur? Start Something! Be a Starter!

Start Something, no matter how small or how absurd it is. Think of an idea, start something, then ship it (implement/execute). You’ll never know, your idea might be the next big thing!
