Lots of Options help you make Better Decisions
April 8, 2012
“A bad decision happens when you don’t have a good decision as one of your options. If you don’t have enough options, search for more.”
In our first 5 years of marriage, we moved 5 times. That’s once a year of packing and unpacking. For the 4th and 5th transfer, we looked at a minimum of 5 houses before picking our choice. That’s when we made our best decision because there are more options to choose from.
Incidentally, one thing I notice about people who look for a job is their lack of initiative to consider opportunities outside of what they know. If you spot a good opportunity that you’re not familiar with, find out more about it. Don’t get stuck!!!
I know a few brave souls who examined first if they had a fighting chance, then made the leap, and are successful today in a field they know nothing of. A guy whose operating an I.T. firm but graduated without a degree in Information Technology. A couple in the housing business but is neither an architect nor an engineer. I even have a restaurateur friend who doesn’t know how to cook.
Therefore, do not limit your options by having fewer choices or by just what you know. Expand your horizon. The more options you have, the more your boundaries widen—the better decisions you make.
